Scholarship/Grant Application Guidelines

Checklist

Scholarship applicants are encouraged to use this checklist to ensure that their application is complete and to facilitate the review process.

Please make sure you:

1.  Meet the employment requirements.

2.  Include 150 - 200 word essay.

3.  Have the application signed by your principal.

4.  Understand that if you receive a scholarship you will be required to submit a report to the Academic Advocates on how this scholarship was used to benefit the district and students.

Guidelines

The nature of the scholarship will be based on accomplishments and the amount will be determined by the dollars collected through membership fees, grants, and donations.  The only condition governing the use of these dollars is that they be used to further education.   The availability of these scholarships will be publicized through LISD and Academic Advocates websites, LISD counselors, newsletters and local newspapers.

A selection committee will determine who is awarded scholarships.  This committee will be comprised of one district principal, one high school counselor, one representative of corporate membership and two Academic Advocates Executive Board members.  No individual will be allowed to serve on the selection committee while any of his/her family members are being considered for scholarship.

This is a non-renewable scholarship and the Leander Independent School District makes no representations or assurances regarding the awarding or availability of scholarships.

The scholarships will be awarded by blind selection and shall be made available without regard to race, color, creed or national origin.

Eligibility

Current employment with LISD with two (2) consecutive years in district employment is required.

Applicants must show a striving toward academic excellence or improvement.

These scholarships will be considered gifts.

Staff scholarship recipients will be required to submit a one page written report on how the funds benefited the district and students.  This report will be posted on the Academic Advocates website.

Deadline For Application

Applications must be received postmarked no later than March 22, 2010.

Winners will be announced and funds made available by May 31, 2010.
